Hi all! Welcome to my page! I'm M. (Maggie) Garfield, author of the historical fiction trilogy--Domesday Tales, and the first young adult historical novel in the series--The Cymry Saga, To Beg Our Cousin The King. I would first like to thank profusely my son, Martin Garfield-Levine, for his amazing help (he actually made most of this site) in the construction of this site. Also, I am beholden to my daughter, Rachel Garfield-Levine, for her editing prowess, and my husband, Eric Levine, for his inspiration and support.

Domesday Tales includes the novels A Domesday Tale, A Plague of Devils, and A Web of Tyrants. The trilogy details the family and reigns of William I, King of England and Duke of Normandy; William's middle son, William II or Rufus, King of England; and Henry, William I's youngest son, twenty years after the conquest of England. With over thirty-five years of research into their lives and times, I have striven to create a truthful, graphic, and entertaining portrait of the iconic family. My fictional hero and heroine--Simon, a bastard, and Maura, a ward--represent forgotten members of the dynasty who exist precariously on the fringes of royalty, and frequently serve as scapegoats and victims of the tyrants. I have woven their story around, through, and away from the adventures of William the Conqueror's fractured family, and invite you to experience their trauma and bliss as they battle their treacherous kin for peace, survival, and the freedom to love.

The Cymry Saga includes the first novel in the series--To Beg Our Cousin The King. My young adult historical novel introduces the children of my main characters from the trilogy Domesday Tales. During the early reign of Henry I, King of England, five young ones from the village of Mynyw in Wales risk their prosaic lives to rescue their Chieftain from the clutches of Lord Robert of Belleme, a true and egregious baron of the time. Please join their daring mission to free their beloved leader and save their village from the ravages of Norman tyranny. The first novel introduces the five young ones. Each subsequent novel will star one of the characters and eventually each star will graduate to their own adult historical novel.

My future novels will showcase the family and friends of Simon and Maura as they grow, and navigate the many rulers of Wales and the reign of Henry I, King of England and Duke of Normandy. Enjoy and learn!
